History

September 13, 1974, the first organization day at Western Boone Junior-Senior High School, merged students who formerly attended Dover, Pinnell, Thorntown, Washington, and Granville Wells schools. These five schools are symbolized in the points of the Western Boone star. Orion, the Star, is the school mascot. The school was maintained in its original state until 1995 when an auxillary gymnasium was built. In 1996, extensive renovation occurred in the media center and academic areas of the building. By 2001, major upgrades to physical education areas and athletic facilities were completed, as well as updates to different sections of the building/adding more educational space in the summer of 2009.
